Hello! How is everyone today?

Something really nice happenend to me recently. Romantic Homes Magazine wrote about my blog in their September 2010 issue! I was so surprised and thrilled! I have had to pinch myself a few times to remind myself this is real!

The response and interest in our products has been keeping me pretty busy. Many thanks to Romantic Homes and all of our customers.

Look at this one of a kind journal. Altered art is very popular but Carrie
takes it to the awesome level. I love this! The colors are so "me."

This is the little pocket inside the cover that holds a coordinating tag / bookmark.

Meadow Street

(below) When I saw this new rose, I gasped. Gorgeous! Erica has a fantastic

flare for putting together just the right things.

Erica hand dyes her silks and makes these beautiful rose pins. She works hard to make a unique accessory for your wardrobe, purse or whatever you want it for! Gee, I'd even put one on a lampshade!

Erica also is a graphic artist and creates all of our magazine ads. Talent!

(below) Isn't this beautilful? Handmade by Kimberly. I know I am a pink girl, but I LOVE this blue shade she created. Now, I am craving blue.

It's Friday

After a very busy week and having to take care of paperwork here and paperwork there it's nice to finally be at home in the afternoon. In the middle of all of my errands and paperwork I've been steadily processing orders. And now, on Friday afternoon its time for a simple and yummy treat. It's time to make challah. No, this is not one of my faux pastries. I start with one lump of dough and make two challahs. Take a peek:

Here, I've finished braiding it. My braids are not anywhere near perfect but no one ever complains. It's now covered and rising. Baking takes place in about 2 1/2 hours from now.

My favorite seasons are spring and autumn. After a few days of record snow here in north Texas last month, I'm enjoying the signs of renewal in nature. The pear tree in our backyard is in full bloom and is a delight to look at. Here's some blossoms to brighten your day. I hope they make you smile as they do me. Enjoy! :)

Ballerina Dreams

I thought I would share a special one of a kind piece with you. We found this great vintage crinoline and gussied it up a bit.

It really is all in the details with this piece. Tiny paper rosettes and lots of crinkly trims peek out of the rows of tulle.

I added this little dream tag because the entire time I was creating it I was dreaming of putting it on and twirling around like a ballerina in a tutu!

This wonderful crinoline would make a beautiful display piece or accent to any home, studio or storefront.

So Shabby Pink - New Category

Hello! We have done some vintage inspired pieces in the past but have focused for quite a while now on the pretty pastels I like so much. However, our love for things that look old is motivating me to return to that old look of Vintage Whites, our newest category on our website, So Shabby Pink. We distress as usual but then do our little magic "poof" to make them look old and just a little scuffed up. I love the look!

I can't stop there though. Hmm....what to do....Rhinestones! We have sparkle! You're going to love these.

I have cabin fever and am ready to get outside in the sunshine and ride my bicycle! Looks like a trip to Walmart is next though. I have a flat tire!

Coconut Faux Cupcakes

A Vintage Rose Weekend!

The January market has come and gone. It really was such a great experience. I wanted to share a few photos of our booth, but I must start off by saying these pictures do not do justice to the absolutely beautiful creations you are about to see. I was so swept up in all the sights and sounds of the Dallas market that I came home realizing I only took a handful of pictures. I hope however, it gives you a nice little tour of the Vintage Rose Boutiques booth and shows you all the hard work we put into making this market a successful one. Here is a picture of us at the end of day 2. We were really tired but so excited to all be together for the first time. From left to right we are, Kimberly (My Pink Boutique), Peggy (So Shabby Pink), Me (Noelle Garrett Designs), Lori (Katie's Rose Cottage Designs) and Erica of Meadow Street.

The booth really was so dreamy. A sea of creams, pastels and vintage inspired pieces. I was fortunate enough to spend a few hours perusing the whole venue and I have to say there was nothing else there like us. Our booth was truly unique not that I am biased but it had to be one of the most beautiful ones there!

As you entered the left of the booth first up was So Shabby Pink. Peggy's yummy pastel color palette was so inviting. I love her jars with handmade roses. I have visions of them filled with buttons and pretty notions. The flower pots and wooden boxes are equally wonderful and there are just so many things you can do with them! I am a storage junkie and am always looking for unique ways to display my work supplies. I think Peggy's creations are just delightful and she has such attention to detail. . not to mention she is just one of the sweetest people I have had the pleasure of meeting. :)

As you continued on the left side, you made your way to our display.

We had our garlands hung from a beautiful set of shutters and a display board with our tags. I really wish my business partner aka mom could have been there. She was really missed and hopefully will be able to join us in the future.

It was so neat seeing all the hours spent working finally come together. I felt like for the first time since this journey started I could really just relax and enjoy the experience. I have to say. . this has really given me a whole new way of looking at how I design and create. I still love doing one of a kind pieces but I am already working on a new line for late Spring. I have so many ideas brewing and just wish I had more hours in the day to execute them all.

As you continued to the right, next was Katie's Rose Cottage Designs.

Lori did such a pretty job with her display. She really is just as sweet and genuine in person and you would imagine her to be. It was such a pleasure to meet her and her youngest daughter who also stopped by to visit. I have been a fan of hers for a while and have shopped at Katie's Rose Cottage in the past. Her new line of vintage inspired jewelry is so beautiful you just want to surround yourself in it! You have to go check out her new site.

Next up were the delightful creations of My Pink Boutique!
Kimberly is such a talent. Her faux pastries are gorgeous and truly look good enough to eat! Unless you knew they were not real, one could easily think they were made by a pastry chef. She does such intricate design work on each piece.

I really enjoyed talking with Kimberly. She is mom to young ones as am I and such a sweet and down to earth person. It was truly a pleasure finally getting to meet her and see her beautiful work in person.

Last but certainly not least was Meadow Street. Erica is a California girl as am I and we shared the adventure of flying to Dallas together. We talked the entire flight and it was so great getting to meet her. We swapped mom stories and got to have some grown up conversation for a change. It was such a joy to spend time with her.

Her roses really grabbed the attention of passersby. We were all lucky enough to wear one each day. They are gorgeous in person and I can see why they are so popular.

Another fun part of Dallas was meeting so many wonderful people from all over the country and the world! We had the pleasure of having Brenda of Just A Bed of Roses and her daughter Shellie stop by our booth. What a treat! It is really something how the Internet and a shared love creating has brought us all together. It was such an amazing learning experience for me and I can't wait to do it all over again! For now we are all busy filling orders, and are hard at work designing some beautiful new creations which will be coming soon!

Set Up has Begun!

The ladies of Vintage Rose Boutiques were very busy today setting up our booth. The excitement of Market is building and we know it's going to be a good one. Here's a few pictures.

We're in booth #2327 on the 12th floor of the World Trade Center.

Here's what setup looks like. It's a hustle and bustle of boxes, packing tape, yards and yards of bubble wrap and of course, papers. Papers for this and papers for that.

The Time Has Come!

Getting Ready for Market

Wow! It has been a very interesting December. There's always something happening around here and with Dallas Market coming up in just a few short weeks, the frosting is flying... literally. I found these awesome candle holders at one of my favorite junk shops. They're going to look great with my display.

Boutiques and Shops

This weekend I had a chance to visit one of the boutiques that purchases items from Noelle Garrett Designs and myself, Meadow Street. It is the closest store I sell to, most are out of state or really far away. Our items are are purchased for the store Serendipity by Cheryl Johannes of Casual Cottage Chic. Cheryl also has a web site that features many of her own beautiful handmade items and unique vintage finds.

Carrie (Noelle Garrett Designs) has amazing talent! Her items sell really quickly! I can see why, her work is amazing! I was also able to find some really unique items to use for display at the show.

Well, it's a little over a month until the show. We are all busy making final decisions on display and samples. I am also fine tuning new graphics for my site as well as packaging. It is a lot of work, I wish Santa would send me a few of his elves to help!

A Sneak Peek

I know we all have been hard at work preparing our lines for market and I just wanted to take a moment to share a little peek at just a few of the new journals in my spring collection.

The first two are Vintage Wallpaper and actually come in three color choices, two of which are shown here.

The final one here is Vintage Floral.
We will have a variety of tags, garlands and spring tussie mussies as well, all to debut in January. We hope to see you there!

I just wanted to give you a little update on our market preparations.
We have all been working getting our lines ready to go which is very exciting !

One of the things we are doing in between working on products is trying to
figure out what to decorate our booth with. We want it to have a Cottage feel and are each finding things that will display our products as well as keep to this look.

As we have been out and about over the few weeks we have found things and created things that will be just perfect.
These are just some ideas of items that we love and think about using but know
that the booth is not huge so we can't bring everything.
